Just curious you say "The Standards and Indicators are a research-proven framework for measuring a school's improvement efforts" Is this education research or scientific? If the later what are the sources...thanks!

There have been instances of low-quality educational research in the past, so I think I know where you are coming from. The good stuff, though, is thoroughly scientific in terms of the rigor of its design, participant selection, and data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Most of the research on the SISI has been conducted as dissertation studies at the University of Louisville under Dr. Miller's direction. See studies by Ennis (2007), McKinney (2007), Saravia (2008), and Todd (2010). All should be available online.

These studies validated all nine SISI standards at the elementary level, and standards 1, 3, and 7 at the secondary level.

Additional studies are underway at WKU.

I'll check with Dr. Miller for additional references.
