In my debut guest editorial for the website Kentucky Friend Politics, I wrote about the recent behavior of Jefferson County Public Schools board member Chris Kolbe, who responded to a legitimate question posted by a Kentucky state senator via Twitter with "F--- you."
Turns out Kolbe has a history of this sort of thing. In my essay I discussed how Kolbe's utter disdain for anyone who disagrees with him is likely a product of his Marxist commitments. In a 2020 essay for the website Quillette, political philosopher Yoram Hazony described "The Challenge of Marxism" and how modern socialists have committed to a generations-long effort to delegitimize any perspective right of center. By making their opponents moral pariahs, they are able to dismiss their views as evil and therefore unworthy of debate. And this precisely reflects the deeply anti-democratic spirit - and goals - of today's wannabe "socialists."
